Misrepresentations About Insurance Coverage

Has your hospital ever been told by an insurer that a patient had coverage at the time of service, yet you subsequently discover that the patient's bill was denied payment due to unpaid COBRA premiums?  At some point, most hospitals fall victim to this type of inaccurate inducement.  Whether it is pre-authorizing a procedure and then denying payment for it, or forgetting to inform a hospital that a patient's continued insurance coverage is contingent on that patient making his COBRA payments, many hospitals are the victims of fraudulent or incomplete statement by insurance representatives.

Recent changes in the law are making it easier for hospitals to obtain financial remedies when they have relied upon inaccurate or fraudulent statements from employers and insurance companies.  If you have suffered a particular incident of misrepresentation that you believe entitles your hospital to relief, please contact Chris Hedemark to learn more about your rights.
