HIPAA
In 1996 Congress enacted the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act ("HIPAA"). HIPAA establishes certain minimum requirements in the health services and health insurance fields, including requirements that protected health information is not improperly disclosed.
Our staff is continually advised about the proper steps they need to be taking in order to ensure compliance with HIPAA. From basic guidance such as shredding sensitive documents when they are no longer needed, to more complex guidance on how to deal with specific situations that arise during phone conversations with third parties, our staff receives comprehensive training on the requirements imposed by HIPAA.
