Compliance

MedClaims knows how important compliance issues are to our hospitals and our clients are comforted by the serious emphasis that  we place on professionalism and compliance. Our internal compliance department implements company-wide procedures and processes that are designed to comply with the laws and regulations surrounding the medical billing industry. 

We train each staff member in the legal and ethical restrictions that personnel in the medical billing industry must comply with.  MCI's compliance department actively monitors the regulatory guidance issued by federal agencies, such as the Department of Labor, Federal Trade Commission, and the Department of Health and Human Services, and provides weekly updates to our staff about any changes that they must comply with.

Jan Rumaks leads our Compliance Department. She earned her Masters' of Jurisprudence in health law from Widener University School of Law.  Ms. Rumaks works under the supervision of our legal department and is responsible for staying apprised of changes in HIPAA, "Red Flag Rules," the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and other laws affecting the business activities of MedClaims.
